Donald was born on November 26, 1963, to Dorothy Lee (Harrington) Jenkins and Leon Jenkins in Monroe, Louisiana. He transitioned to eternity on August 5, 2024, in Richardson, Texas.
Donald, one of nine children, was raised in Mer Rouge, Louisiana. Among many hobbies, Donald took a liking to playing ball, music, and dancing. On May 17, 1981, he graduated from Delta High School and enlisted in the United States Army. A man of superior work ethic and skill, Donald received many badges of honor ranging from specializing in sharpshooting and hand grenades to good conduct and air assault. After being honorably discharged in 1984, he moved to Dallas, Texas, where he endeavored on a vigorous career path until he found his forever career at Walmart where he became Supervisor and Manager. He worked at Walmart for 30 years before retiring in his early 50s.
Donald married the love of his life, Lonnetta Renean DeJohnette, on July 25, 1997. To this union, five children were loved and nurtured. Together, they enjoyed becoming the loving grandparents of three little ones. In 2000, they moved their family to Garland, Texas.
Donald was preceded in death by his parents, Leon Jenkins and Dorothy Lee (Harrington) Jenkins; and his niece, Sheila D. Bonner.
Those left to cherish precious memories include his devoted wife, Lonnetta Jenkins; his five children - DeWone DeJohnette (Vera), Tavarus Tramine Hunter (Holly), Danneisha DeJohnette, Dannetria DeJohnette, and Darius Jenkins; his three grandchildren - Royce Carr, Ah’Narie Mickel, and Ryann DeJohnette; his eight siblings - Ethel Parker (Douglas), Landis Harrington (Mildred), Vertis Bonner (Melvin), Mary Harrington, Gertrude Givens, Doris Harrington (Lester), Gary Jenkins, and David Jenkins (Vickie); and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
