Donald Tunstall was born on December 15, 1957, to George and Ollie Lee (Mitchell) Tunstall in Mobile, Alabama. Donald transitioned to eternity with his Lord and Savior on Monday, March 4, 2024, in Plano, Texas.
Donald graduated high school and went on to attend Jarvis Christian University, in Hawkins, Texas, where he became a member of the National Scientific Honor Society and was an honor student on the Dean’s List. He was initiated into the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. in 1977 and received his Bachelor of Science degree in 1980.
Donald enlisted in the United States Navy and served as a Hospital Corpsman in San Diego, California, until 1983. He then moved to Dallas, Texas, where he became employed at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in the General Clinical Research Center for 15 years. Dallas Independent School District was Donald’s next chapter, becoming an 8th grade Science teacher, basketball coach, and football coach for 4 years. Donald loved sports of any kind, especially those Cowboys. In the next chapter of his career journey, Donald became employed with Texas Instruments, where he served as a Technology Adoption Consultant for the last 20-plus years in Dallas, Texas.
Donald met the love of his life, Deborah Taylor, in 1986 in Dallas, Texas. Together, they had three children - Shaytra, Shannen, and Kalin. The two remained united in holy matrimony for almost 40 years until his transition.
Donald was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Howard "Sonny" Autry and George "Junior" Tunstall; and his sisters, Willie Mae Mabry and Georgia Hampton.
Those left to cherish lasting memories include his wife, Deborah Tunstall; his daughters, Shaytra Thompson and Shannen Tunstall; his son, Kalin Edwards; his brothers, Larry Tunstall (Yolanda) and Melvin Tunstall; his sister, Cynthia Jackson; his sisters-in-law, Gloria Skinner and Denell Autry; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins; and a host of many fraternity brothers and friends.
