Dorothy D. Mitchell was born on August 22, 1934, in Sanger, Texas. She transitioned to eternity with her Lord on July 13, 2020, in Dallas, Texas.
Our beloved Dorothy Dimple Mitchell was born to the parentage of the late Eugene, Sr. and Lillie Thomas. She was one of 11 children. She received her formal education in Denton, Texas, at Fred Moore High School. She was a devoted member of Mt. Calvary Baptist Church where she gave her life to Christ. She married the love of her life, James Mitchell, Sr. To their union, six children were born: James, Jr., Ronald, Lillie, Stanley, Mary Ann, and Shirley. The two remained united for 45 years until his transition on July 14, 1996.
Dorothy was a hardworking woman outside the home as well as inside. She reared her family with a very strict upbringing and instilled values to be hardworking, respectful, and strong. Among many delights, Dorothy loved spending time with her grandchildren and sister, Wanda. She also enjoyed playing dominoes with Wanda for hours. In 2018, Dorothy relocated to Texas to reside with her daughter in Plano. She transitioned from this earthly life as a resident at The Highlands Guest Care Facility in Dallas.
Those left to cherish precious memories include her children, Stanley of Denton, Texas, and Shirley (Harry) of Plano, Texas; daughters-in-love, Betty Mitchell (James, Jr.) and Barbara Mitchell (Ronald); brother, Louis Thomas (Barbara); sister, Jimmie Lee Axmalin; 19 grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins. She will truly be missed by all who knew and loved her.
