Dorothy Shaw Obituary

Dorothy Marie (Brown) Shaw was born on July 17, 1956, in Bossier City, Louisiana (Barksdale Air Force Base). On June 20, 2026, she transitioned to eternity with her Lord.

In 1974, Dorothy graduated from Webster High School in Minden, Louisiana, where she was distinguished as Valedictorian. She went on to attend Grambling State University, where she earned a Bachelor's degree with a double major in Math and Computer Science as Salutatorian of her class. In 1977, she graduated and continued her education at the University of Southern California (USC), where she graduated with a Master's degree in Computer Science in 1981. Dorothy enjoyed employment with several reputable employers, including Texas Instruments, Bank of America, Nortel, and Raytheon. With her education and experience, she became a college professor.

Affectionately regarded as "Dottie" and "Sister Baby", Dorothy married the love of her life, Ernest Shaw Jr., on February 15, 1986. Their union was blessed with three beautiful children. The two remained united in holy matrimony until her transition.

Dorothy trusted Christ as her Lord and remained steadfast in her faith. She was a member of Amity Bible Church. She expressed her light and love for God through her community involvement with Suitcases for Shelters, a nonprofit organization that provides suitcases to the DV and homeless shelters in the DFW area.

Among many hobbies, Dorothy enjoyed shopping, traveling, dancing, and singing. She also delighted in bingeing on TV shows and watching sporting events, especially tennis. Most notably, she finished a half-marathon.

Dorothy will be fondly remembered for her compassionate, strong, nurturing, and devoted nature. Her loving spirit will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Those who are left to cherish memories include her husband, Ernest Shaw Jr.; her mother, Meltris Reeder; her children, Jorden Shaw, Morgen Shaw, and Ernest Clayton Shaw; her siblings, Charles Brown, Johnnie Allen, Walsh Jordan, Herman Brown, Fayedra Brown-Deer, Adrienne Mosley, and Angela Williams; her goddaughter, Natalia; her nieces, Gianna, Aurmani, Miliania, and Nadia Jordan; her goddaughter, Amena McCullum (Khan) and family; her best friend, George McCullum; her nephew, James Brewer and family; Helen Bell and family; her nephews, Keylon Brown, Edward Brown, and Prentice Miller; her nieces, Brittani Brown, Tatiana Allen, Brianna Allen (Swope), and Leeanna Allen; her sister-in-law, Shakeya Lastarr Allen; her best friend and children's godmother, Shirley Ware and family; her sisters-in-law, Anise Brown, Cheryl Shaw Williams (Andre Williams), Dr. Avery Shaw Hall, Audrey Shaw Ukkerd (Berk Ukkerd), and Tierny Jordan; her brother-in-law, Donald Shaw (Catherine Shaw); a host of nieces and nephews, Kimberley Hubbard, Lesley Ukkerd, Amanda Hall, Larry Hall Jr., Baylor Shaw, Whitney Shaw, Ariel Shaw, and Garnett Ukkerd; her best friends, Helen Bell, Dorothy Wilson, Curtis Johnson, Nate Jones III, Darnell Hendrick, Josephine Sears; her honorary son, Jerome West; and the many other special people that held a cherished place in her heart, including members of her extended family, church family, colleagues, and cherished friends.
