On August 9, 1953, Douglas McWilliams was born in Dallas, Texas as the third child to John Wesley McWilliams and Irene Stanton McWilliams, both of whom preceded him in death. He transitioned to eternity on November 26, 2023, in Rowlett, Texas.
Douglas was raised in Dallas. He graduated from Lincoln High School, Class of ‘71, and worked many years for Texas Instruments and later Raytheon Technologies from which he retired. He regularly attended True Lee Baptist Church, accepting Christ as his Lord and Savior as a young boy. He served as an usher at Covenant Church and supported his wife in ministry as she supported others in their journey.
On October 16, 1982, Douglas married Margaret Merritt. Developing a deeper relationship with Jesus, Douglas and Margaret laid a foundation of spiritual teaching as they loved and nurtured four beautiful children. Douglas recognized the importance of family values and implemented them diligently throughout the course of his life. He was a sports enthusiast, often coaching Little League and basketball teams for the youth; he gained a host of godsons along the way. He inhabited a supportive nature and sought to build lasting relationships and unity. As a Dallas native, of course, Douglas was a Dallas Cowboys fan. He esteemed his wife, adored his children, and loved on his grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Frankie Philip McWilliams; and several aunts and uncles.
Those left to cherish precious memories include his wife of 41 years, Margaret; his children - Christopher Hall, Andrea McWilliams-Diggles (Leroy), Damali Chester (Alfred), and Khary McWilliams (Rachel); his grandchildren – Michael Hess, Julia Kemppainen, Dominique McWilliams, Anthony Gonzales, Madison Chester, Chloe Chester, Saige Diggles, Ella Garcia, Sonai Diggles, LeAndrea Diggles, Jordan McWilliams, and Masie Jo McWilliams; his siblings, John Wesley McWilliams, Jr. and Irene Lyons (Lucious); his uncle, Phillip Staton; his aunt, Cloerine McWilliams Brewer; his brothers-in-law, Willie Lester Merritt and Gregory Merritt (Lisa); his sister-in-law, Anita "Joyce" Wooten-Merritt; his nephews – Verlon Wesley Frazier, Lamarr Frazier, Brett Frazier, and Lucious "Tre" Lyons III; his very dear friends, Tom and Helen Connolly, David and Brenda Olugbami, and Mary Mabry; and a host of other relatives and loved ones.
