James Jones, Jr. was born on August 3, 1927, to James Sr. and Virginia (Clark) Jones in Palmer, Texas. He passed away on November 8, 2023, in Richardson, Texas.
James graduated from Lincoln High School in Dallas, Texas. He continued his education, earning a Bachelor of Science, Bachelor of Business Administration, and Master of Business Administration from California Western University. He also received a Doctor of Science degree from The London Institute for Applied Research.
James was a long-time member of Greater Mount Olive Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon, sang in the choir, and worked in the finance department. He was also an aide to the pastor, the late Reverend D. C. Presley, Sr. James later became a member of Greenville Avenue Church of Christ and proclaimed that he had found his second home. He was active in Sunday School and taught the Thursday Morning Bible Class for many years until he decided to pass the baton.
James served in the Army of the United States from October 3, 1950 to August 22, 1952. He was employed with Murray Gin Company and The Department of Labor as an Equal Opportunity Specialist where he later retired. A member of the National Society of Tax Professionals, he also established his own business, Triple J Bookkeeping Service.
James united in holy matrimony to Ethel Lois Alexander on October 19, 1952, and God blessed them with three children.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James Jones, Sr. and Virginia Clark Jones; brother, Arthur Will Jones; and sisters, Mary Ruth Baker and Pauline Brown. Those left to cherish memories include his wife of 71 years, Ethel Lois Alexander Jones; two sons, Michael Allan Jones, Sr. (Patty) and James Earl Jones; one daughter, Debra Zarifa Zarif; eight grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren; sisters, Luella Jones and Doris Jean Jackson; sisters-in-law, Hazel Price and Dr. Bobbie Jean Alexander Thompson; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
