Dr. Jeffrey Redmond Obituary

Jeffrey Redmond was born on December 1, 1965, in St. Paul, Minnesota. He transitioned on March 15, 2022, in Richardson, Texas.

In 1984, Jeffrey graduated from Central High School in St. Paul. He went on to attend the University of St Thomas where he earned his Bachelor of Arts in Financial Management in 1999. In 2002, he earned his Master of Business Administration at Franklin University. Jeffrey later earned his Doctor of Education from Abilene Christian University in 2021.

Affectionately regarded as "Jeff" by his colleagues, Dr. Redmond enjoyed a longtime career in the financial management industry. He joined Hunt, one of the predecessor companies to Lument Mortgage Finance, in 2015 as Vice President of Portfolio Oversight/Risk Management. He previously served as Vice President of Portfolio Management with CIII Asset Management, a sub-servicer for Hunt Companies. He also spent a number of years in senior positions with Fannie Mae and JP Morgan. At the time of his transition, Dr. Redmond worked as Vice President of Platinum Client Asset Management and recently received the 2021 Lument Colleague Recognition Award for customer commitment. He also served on the Diversity and Inclusion Committee at Lument. One of Dr. Redmond's greatest attributes was his ability to easily connect with people. At Lument, he was involved with the creation and direct oversight of the Platinum Client Program, and he was instrumental in helping build strong relationships with clients. He believed in the importance of personal development and enjoyed mentoring other staff members through sharing his experience and expertise with many. Dr. Redmond had a great passion for inclusivity and fostering dialogue across Lument and the larger ORIX USA organization, including his leadership within the group’s Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DE&I) Talent Development & Leadership Task Force. Most recently, he spearheaded the planning and execution of the first in-depth celebration of Black History Month at the firm. Dr. Redmond embodied the mission of the DE&I initiative and carried out those same qualities in his daily life by being involved with his community as a fierce advocate for underserved communities, affordable housing, and homelessness.

On November 23, 1996, he married the love of his life, Dawn Tarkington. To their union, two beautiful children were loved and nurtured. The two remained united in holy matrimony until his transition.

Dr. Redmond accepted Christ at a young age. A member of North Dallas Community Bible Fellowship, he remained faithful to his faith throughout his life. Also regarded as "Jeffro", Dr. Redmond delighted in watching the Dallas Cowboys and Mavericks play, reading leadership books, and mentorship. His greatest delight and joy, nonetheless, were his children and education.

Dr. Redmond will be fondly remembered for his loyal, honest, thoughtful, considerate, and dutiful nature. His amazing and dedicated spirit will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

He was preceded in death by his father, Jessie Redmond; mother, Emma Mae (Williams) Redmond; aunt, Ida Mae (Williams) Carroll; and nephew, Derick Redmond. Those left to cherish precious memories and carry on his legacy of love include his loving wife, Dawn Tarkington-Redmond; son, Jared Pierce Redmond; daughter, Savannah Lynn Redmond; mother-in-law, Dr. LaVern Tarkington; father-in-law, Donald Tarkington; siblings - Harrison Redmond, Mary Lee Anderson, Bilal Saleem, and James Clayton Redmond; brother-in-law, Frank Tarkington; nephews - Frank Tarkington, Jr., LaRon Tarkington, Eric Redmond, Corey Gunther, Nicholas Redmond, and James Redmond, Jr.; nieces - Tambra Becton, Monica Mcintosh, Gretchen King, Amber Rose Valle, Laura Ashley Redmond, and Tara Givens; and a host of other relatives, beloved friends, and dear colleagues.
