Elsa Erna (Forde) Paul

Elsa Erna (Forde) Paul was born in Port of Spain, Trinidad, on May 22, 1932. She passed away on February 18, 2025. 

Affectionately known as 'Granny" and "Mammy", Elsa accepted Christ and was devoted to the Catholic faith. A compassionate and nurturing mother of 15, she remained steadfast in her faith and role as a devoted caregiver, even after the heartbreaking loss of two of her daughters. 

Elsa lived a humble and selfless life. One of the most significant lessons learned from Elsa that helped shape the lives of her children was to appreciate what you have and not covet what others have. The other most significant lesson learned from Elsa was to share whatever you have, as there is always someone who has less than you do.

Among many hobbies, she loved traveling the world, casinos, cooking, and gardening. She most enjoyed limin' with her family. 

Elsa will be fondly missed for her God-fearing, humble, selfless, and gentle nature. Her compassionate spirit will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Edwin Paul; daughters, Rachel and Lisa; brother, Kelvin Aberdeen; father, Cuthbert Forde; mother, Elaine Voutan; and son-in-law, Curtis Benjamin.

Those are left to cherish lasting memories include her children - Maureen (Ken Saunders), Ingrid, Arlene (Wayne Joseph), Anthony (Joanne), Michael (Jenny), Kathyann, Beverly (Paul Keating), Roger (Natalie), Lester (Paula), Camille, Libbi, Andre, and Joel (Melissa); her grandchildren - Karelius (Katherine), Khellan (Crystal), Ishmael (Samantha), Scott (Annie), Kimberly (Romen Tucker), Christopher (Amy), Ashleigh, Brandon (Sabrina), Anthony "TJ" (Adenike), Darrian, Liam, Amelia, Minakah (Andy Teemul), Nikolai, Miguel (Jennifer), Zoie, Stefan, Gian, Dejan (Jada), Gervais, Enrique, Krystal (Christopher Johnson), Onika, Jerriel, Jean-Luc (Elizabeth), Mia, Devon, Noah, and Avery; and her great-grandchildren - Kaden, Knoelle, Kameron, Korbin, Kimbree, Kaylahni, Sophia, Kiara, Trinity, Elijah, Isla, Theo, Baby Girl Benjamin, Phoenix, Luna, Cora, Quinn, Irie, Baby Boy Joseph, Anthony III, Aryanna, Asher, Ethan, Nathaniel, Alexander, Dakota, Isabella, Jonah, Zeryan, Della, and Wake.

Elsa served as a matriarch to many, particularly within the extended Paul family from St. James, Port of Spain, Trinidad. She was a great-aunt to Michelle Gaskin Joseph and family; a cousin to the Smiths; a godmother to Ricardo Rodriguez and Curtis Paul; and an aunt, great-aunt, and matriarch to many. She will be dearly missed.
