Ernesto Gutierrez, Jr. was born on April 2, 1942, in Laredo, Texas. He passed away on January 23, 2020, in Garland, Texas.
Ernesto graduated in 1961 from W.B. Ray High School in Corpus Christi, Texas. He went on to attend Del Mar College for one year before enlisting in the United States Air Force. From 1965 to 1966, Ernesto served in Vietnam. He was honorably discharged from the Air Force and continued his education at University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP) where he graduated in 1974 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Latin American Studies. Ernesto enjoyed a career in Human Resources with the Dallas Times Herald until the publication closed.
