May 9, 1925 ~ October 31, 2022 (age 97) 97 Years Old

Obituary

Felicia Julia (Plesniarski) Szyper was born on May 9, 1925, in Rome, New York. She passed away peacefully on October 31, 2022, in Garland, Texas.

Affectionately regarded as “Phyliss”, Felicia graduated high school from Rome Free Academy in 1943. She went on to work at her father’s meat and grocery market, Washington Market, on James Street in Rome. Felicia was bilingual, speaking English and Polish, and demonstrated a superior work ethic and loyalty.

She met the love of her life, Edward T. Szyper, on Victory Over Japan day. The two united in holy matrimony on June 10, 1947, and remained united until his passing. They celebrated 70 years of marriage in 2017. She loved spending time with her husband at their lake house in Brantingham, New York. Alongside her husband, Felicia united with the Transfiguration Church in Rome, New York.

Among many hobbies, she delighted in sewing her own clothes and meeting with the neighborhood coffee club where all the moms met once a week to enjoy coffee and snacks during the school years and plan summertime clam bakes. She will be fondly remembered for her caring, beautiful, and kind nature. Her sense of humor and loving spirit will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Felicia was preceded in death by her husband, Edward T. Szyper; her parents, Albin and Mary Plesniarski; her brothers, Edward Plesniarski and Joseph Plesniarski; and her parents-in-law, Thomas and Anelia Szyper.

Those left to cherish precious memories include her son, Edward A. Szyper, daughter-in-law Deborah K. Szyper; and a host of nieces and nephews.
