Francis "Frank" Bennett Obituary

On Saturday, November 11, 2023, Francis “Frank” Allen Bennett, loving husband, father of two children, and grandfather of three, passed away at 89 in Frisco, TX.

Frank was born on July 13, 1934, in Boston, MA to John Augustus and Saville (Mitchell) Bennett. He graduated from Boston English High School in 1953 and spent his career at Blue Cross Blue Shield for 38 years and at Middlesex Newspaper, now known as The MetroWest Daily News, for 10 years before retirement.

On March 11, 1960, he married the love of his life, Shirley Leota Mintis, and they remained united until his heavenly transition. Together, they raised two wonderful children, Barbara and Bruce, in Franklin, MA.

Frank was a man of faith and an active member of Franklin Federated Church until his move down to Texas. He rooted for all things Boston sports, especially his favorite team, the New England Patriots. Since childhood, he loved participating in and watching track and field. In his downtime, he enjoyed bowling, science fiction movies, tending to his well-groomed lawn, and grilling for family barbecues. He was known for his friendliness and warmth, impeccable style, and generous spirit.

He is survived by his soulmate and wife, Shirley Bennett; his daughter, Barbara (Bennett) Trotter; daughter-in-law, Natalie (Davidson) Bennett; and three grandchildren - Chelsea (Jared) Williams, Samuel Bennett Trotter, and Matthew Bruce Bennett.

Frank was preceded in death by his father, John Augustus Bennett; mother, Saville (Mitchell) Bennett; brother, John Bennett, Jr.; sister, Barbara A. (Bennett) Howe; and son, Bruce F. Bennett.

In addition, he leaves to mourn a host of family members and friends across the United States, Canada, and Australia.

The Bennett, Trotter, and Williams families wish to extend their heartfelt thanks to HarborChase of Plano and Ardent Hospice for their loving care.

A memorial service for Frank will be held at a later date in his hometown of Boston, MA.
