George Welborn Paris was born in Palestine, Texas, on August 25, 1943. He transitioned on March 13, 2025, in Garland, Texas.
On January 20, 1964, he enlisted in the United States Army and served until being honorably discharged on May 22, 1967. George attended high school and Eastfield College, where he earned his Associate's degree. George enjoyed a career as an Electrical Engineer at Texas Instruments, Raytheon, and DRS, and he retired in May 2009. He was also the owner of GKD Products.
Affectionately known as "Big Daddy" and "G-Pa", George was raised in the Baptist religion. He professed Christ at a young age. Among his many hobbies, he enjoyed being a soccer coach. He was also a part of the Dallas Remote Control / Airplane Club. George was a self-taught machinist, carpenter, and welder who enjoyed working on cars, creating electronic gadgets, and tinkering.
A builder, thinker, and problem-solver, George will be fondly remembered for his loyalty and loving spirit. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
George was preceded in death by his father, Theodore Roosevelt Paris, Sr.; mother, Marzie Ruth Coleman Paris; sister, Rose Marie Paris Wilson; brother, Theodore Roosevelt Paris; brother, Maurice Paris; brother, Herman Paris; and sister, Mary Alice Paris-Rigsby.
Those left to cherish precious memories include his son, Keenan Q. Paris; his daughter-in-law, Stephanie (Thomas) Paris; his grandson, Kobi Paris; his great-grandson, Zane Alcorn-Paris; the mother of his son, Dolores W. Paris; his brother, Alton E. Paris; his sister, Ruth Jean Paris-Haynes; his sister, Jo Verne Paris Moss; his nephew, Michael Paris; his nephew, Rodney Paris; his niece, Kamala Moss McGee; his niece, Kerri Swain; his niece, Darlene Rigsby Hillis; his extended family - Patricia Ann Clark, James Clark, Michael Tremayne Thomas, Charmaine Welch, Jose and Lisa Cortes, Christopher Hill, Vinson Brown, Darvin and Dee Ham, Walter Downs, Dough Peysha, Issac Hands, Terry Murphy, Darryl Irving; and a host of family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family has established the GKD-Paris Advancement in STEM Scholarship to honor their beloved father and grandfather (G-Pa), George. This scholarship aims to support deserving students in the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM), reflecting George’s love and passion for these areas.
