Georgia Artis (Hicks) Fields was born on September 22, 1932, to Leroy Hicks and Estella Webb Hicks in Garland, Texas. Surrounded by her loving family, she transitioned to eternity on December 25, 2022, in Dallas, Texas.
Affectionately regarded as "Peewee", Georgia graduated from Booker T. Washington High School in 1950. She married the love of her life, Gale A. Fields, on June 15, 1961, and the two loved and nurtured six beautiful children. Gale and Georgia remained united in holy matrimony until his transition. She devoted her life to being the best mom and ensuring a supportive and loving home for her family. Always sensitive to their needs and ready to provide a solution, she provided the greatest care, compassion, and love to her family.
Georgia accepted Christ at a young age and remained steadfast in her faith. She was a longtime member of St. Luke A.M.E. Church in Garland where she faithfully served as a deaconess. As she supported her husband's professional and social endeavors, she was also a community activist in Rainbow Neighborhood Association and the city of Garland.
Among many hobbies, Georgia delighted in sewing, word search puzzles, and spending time with her grandchildren. She will be fondly remembered for her kind, affectionate, caring, protective, and extraordinary nature. Her loving spirit will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Leroy and Estella Hicks; siblings - Zella Mae Hicks, Clarence "Red" Hicks, Mozelle "Nikki" Baker, Lottie Dawkins, and Leroy Hicks, Jr.; husband, Gale A. Fields; and children, Jerome "Skip" Fields and Tony E. Hicks.
Those left to cherish precious memories include her children - Perry Hicks, Gail Fields Harris (Freeman), Dale Fields (Melissa), and Diane Fields-Robinson (Brock); 20 grandchildren - Delondo, Coneshia, Lance, LaMeatra, Tony, Tamara, Damien, Krestin, Perry, Jonathan, Myles, Blake, Dr. Toya, Dr. Tonya, Brent, Aaron, Chad, Victoria, Briana, and Erica; 21 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren; her beloved sister, Mattie Chalk; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
