Gloria Delano (Thomas) Jones

Gloria Delano (Thomas) Jones was born on January 5, 1934, in Dallas, Texas. She transitioned to eternity on February 15, 2021, in Hillsboro, Texas. 

Gloria attended Lincoln High School and enjoyed a longtime career in collections at Haverty's Furniture. 

Gloria married the love of her life, Jot Jones. The two remained united in matrimony for 67 years until his transition. 

She accepted Christ at a young age and always remained faithful in God's church. For over 30 years, she was a member of First Baptist Church of Hamilton Park under the leadership of Pastor J.L. Foster. At the time of her transition, she was a member of Longview Baptist Church in Hillsboro where she served in the visitor ministry. Civically, she served with the Carl Corner Neighborhood Community Counsel. 

Affectionately regarded as "Grannie Hillsboro", Gloria loved to travel, dance, and cook. She will be fondly remembered for her strong, feisty, and humorous nature. Most of all, her loving and caring spirit will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her. 

Gloria was preceded in death by her parents, Jonny B. Thomas and Essie Lee Dean Thomas; husband, Jot Jones; and siblings, Terry Young and Melinda Carrington. Those left to cherish precious memories include her children: Mozelle Johnson (Willie Johnson), Derrick Jones (Nelia Jones), and Pamela Travis (Anthony Travis); seven grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; siblings: Freddie Jefferson, Jean Thompson, and Merlene Polk; and a host of family and friends.
