Gregory Lenn Metcalf

Gregory Lenn Metcalf went home to glory on December 25, 2022, at the age of 58 years old. Affectionately regarded as "Greg", "Greggy", "Papa", and "Pop", he was born on August 12, 1964, at Parkland Hospital in Dallas, Texas, to Jimmy Thompson and Jimmie Lee (Carson) Metcalf. Greg graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in 1982 and went on to earn his Associate of Applied Science Degree in Music and Video Business in June of 1994 from the Art Institute of Dallas.  

Greg accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior at a young age. He remained steadfast in his faith and service, and he allowed God to use him through the gift of music. Greg was a musical genius who shared his ministry all over the metroplex. He worked as a Minister of Music for Saint Fredricks Church (Marble Falls, Texas), North Park Missionary Baptist Church (Dallas, Texas), New St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church (Dallas, Texas), Greater Zion Baptist Church (Dallas, Texas), North Garland Baptist Fellowship (Garland, Texas), and Sweet Home Missionary Baptist Church (West Dallas).

Greg had a remarkable work ethic and could do many things. An entrepreneur at heart, he was the owner and operator of I Can Do Computers (ICDC) Services. His business name was inspired by his favorite scripture, Philippians 4:13 - "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me". Greg also worked as a head cook at Waffle House in Mesquite, Texas.

Greg was united with his faithful and loyal Proverbs 31 wife, Brenda Joyce Metcalf, on August 17, 1985. The two nurtured and loved four children and remained united in holy matrimony for 37 years until his transition. Greg served his family and church with his whole heart. 

He was preceded in death by his father, Urshel Lee Metcalf, Sr.; grandmother, Everlena Carson; and grandfather, Jimmie Carson.

Those left to cherish precious memories include his wife, Brenda Metcalf; daughters - Autris Moore, Joslyn Blocker (Joshua), and Keira Davis; son, Jonathan Metcalf; grandchildren - Sa’Nyah Blocker-Dickson, David Moore-Johnson, Nevaeh Metcalf, Serenity Blocker, Justice Blocker, Jayce Metcalf, and Autumn Moore-Lurry; mother, Jimmie Lee Metcalf; biological father, Jimmy Thompson; brothers - Anthony Metcalf (Kim), Urshel Metcalf, Jr. (Robyn), Corey Thompson, and Craig Thompson; goddaughters, Jasmine Johnson and Alexia Navejas; and a host of other relatives and friends.
