Gwenda Bryant Obituary

Gwenda Gale (Arnick) Bryant was born on July 16, 1957, in Dallas County to Joyce and Azzie Arnick, Jr. She transitioned on July 10, 2022, in Dallas, Texas. 

Gwenda attended Hamilton Park Elementary School. She spent her junior high years at Richardson High School.  She later attended J.J. Pearce High School in Richardson, Texas, graduating with honors in 1975. Gwenda was the first African American student to attend J.J. Pearce High School. In 1975, she went on to enjoy a longtime career at Southwestern Bell/AT&T. In 1998, she started her career as a flight attendant with Northwest Airlines/Delta. In 2017, she became employed at JoAnn Fabrics. 

Gwenda accepted Christ and remained loyal to her faith. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Hamilton Park under the leadership of Dr. Gregory Foster until her transition. 

Among many hobbies, Gwenda loved knitting, crocheting, cooking, gardening, traveling, and animals. She also enjoyed acting and working. She starred in Dallas, Walker Texas Ranger, and other movies filmed in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. She will be fondly remembered for her bold, brave, and fearless nature. Her kind spirit will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Gwenda was preceded in death by her mother, Joyce Arnick. Those left to cherish precious memories include her father, Azzie Arnick, Jr.; siblings, Donnie Arnick and Velma Lee Gibbs; uncles, Theo Arnick and Joe Tucker; aunts - Catherine Breedlove, Dorothy Glover, Patsy Gibson, Lena Miller, and Lois Harris; and a host of other relatives and friends.
