Helen Maxine Johnson Taylor, affectionately regarded as "Maxine", was born on December 19, 1939 in Dallas, Texas. She was the fourth of seven children born to the parentage of Robert Johnson, Jr. and Ophelia Thompson.
Maxine attended the public schools of Dallas, Texas, and graduated from James Madison High School. On January 23, 1958, she married the love of her life, Willis Taylor. She worked at Pearl C. Anderson Day Care Center as an early childhood educator and assistant director, Safeway Warehouse, and later GTE, where she retired after 25 years of service. She later came out of retirement and worked Delta reservations for over four years.
Maxine transitioned to eternal rest on Thursday, January 23, 2020. She was preceded in death by parents, Robert Johnson, Jr. and Ophelia (Thompson) Johnson; brothers, Alvin Johnson and Tommy Johnson; and sisters, Barbara Stroughter and Ruby Holman. Those left to cherish precious memories include her husband of over 60 years, Willis Taylor; children: Frederick Taylor (Terri), Charlotte Taylor, and David Taylor; five grandchildren: Candace, Arianna, Asiah, Amber, and David, Jr; one great-grandchild, Jazlyn McDowell; one sister, Betty Ashley of Garland, Texas; one brother, Robert Johnson of Pasadena, California; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and cousins; and a host of other relatives and friends.
