Henrietta Dancy Biography

Henrietta Dancy was born on September 19, 1963, to Rev. Tom Henry and Icymae Betty Washington in Hutchinson, Kansas. On September 11, 2026, she transitioned to eternity to be with her Lord.

From the beginning, Henrietta was surrounded by family, love, and strong foundations shaping the woman she would become. She was a woman of strength, vibrancy, compassion, joy, and optimism. To those who knew and loved her, she was, above all, an encourager. She believed in the people around her, supported them wholeheartedly, and reminded them to keep moving forward.

Henrietta was a proud graduate of Hutchinson High School and engaged in extracurricular activities like volleyball and drill team, Class of 1981. She continued her education at Hutchinson Community College, where she earned her Associate’s Degree in 1983, and later attended the University of North Texas. She built a career in accounting before making the decision to leave the corporate workforce to devote herself to caring for and raising her family. For Henrietta, being present for the people she loved was not simply a responsibility. It was a calling and one of the greatest joys of her life.

On July 25, 1987, Henrietta married Gregory Dancy, building a marriage and partnership of 39 years, grounded in love and dedication. Together, they built a life centered around their family and the people they loved.

Henrietta was a devoted Christian and a woman of faith. She was a member of North Dallas Community Bible Fellowship Church, where she participated in a Women’s Bible Study Group and sought to live out her faith through compassion, generosity, service, and encouragement. She had a generous heart and was an avid supporter of charitable organizations, including Angel Tree, UNCF, the North Texas Food Bank, the American Red Cross, Shriners Hospitals for Children, and Elder McClean Counseling Center.

Outside of her roles as a wife and mother, Henrietta enjoyed working out, reading nonfiction novels, and watching action movies. She embraced life with energy and personality, finding peace in the things that brought her happiness and in the people who surrounded her. Above all, Henrietta’s greatest joy was found in the way she loved her family.
