Herbert Nathaniel Jenkins was born on January 20, 1950, in Moncks Corner, South Carolina. Surrounded by his loving family, he transitioned on September 4, 2022, in Garland, Texas.
Herbert graduated from Job Corps in 1969 and went on to enjoy a longtime career in food service. he worked as a chef at various places, including Blue Cross Blue Shield and Taco Bell. After many years of dedicated service, he retired in 2012.
Herbert married the love of his life, Lillian Christine Dickson, on August 25, 1973. To this union, two children were loved and nurtured. The two remained united until Herbert's transition.
Affectionately regarded as "Herbie", he delighted in fishing, gardening, watching wrestling, grilling, and listening to music. Herbert lived a simple life. He will be fondly remembered for his hardworking, kind, loyal, and funny nature. His loving spirit will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Herbert was preceded in death by his brother, Willie Jenkins. Those left to cherish precious memories include his wife, Lillian Jenkins; daughter, LaKisha Jenkins; son, Kawon Jenkins; daughter-in-law, Shayla Jenkins; grandson, Kingston Jenkins; granddaughter, Sevie Jenkins; mother, Leola Washington; sister, Annebelle Jenkins; sister, Rose Rollison; sister, Shirley Washington; brother, Robert "Bobby" Washington; sister, Toynett Conner; brother, Bryant Washington; sister, Brenda Washington; brother-in-law, Lenny Conner; brother-in-law, Dwayne Smith; Frankie Dickson; sister-in-law, Darlene Dickson; and a host of nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends.
