Ida White Obituary

Ida Bell White, age 102, of Garland, Texas, passed away peacefully on October 6, 2025.

Ida Bell lived a long, faith-filled life rooted in love, service, and devotion. She married the love of her life, Emmit White, in Milam County, Texas, on April 20, 1942. In 1947, they moved to Garland, Texas, where they joined Lucy Hughes A.M.E. Church, now known as St. Luke A.M.E. Church — a spiritual home that would become central to their lives for decades.

Mother White, as she was lovingly known, was a pillar of her church and a beloved leader in her faith community. She served faithfully as President of the Women’s Missionary Society — an organization that now bears her name in her honor. She was also a member of the Stewardess Board, Trustee Board, and Deaconess Board. She also served as Superintendent of the Sunday School. Her love for her church and its members was unwavering and evident in everything she did.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Emmit White; her son, Walter White; her parents, Emma Louise (Calton) and Hulen Parker; her sisters, Francis Parker and Lee Etta Parker; and her brothers, Elvis Parker and Hulen Parker, Jr.

She is survived by her devoted children, Barbara Milo (Keith) and Emmit White, Jr. (Von); her daughter-in-law, Shelia White; her cherished grandchildren, Gabby Milo, Sophia Milo, Keith Milo, Jr., Belinda Kendrick, Alice Bryant, Mitchell White, and Anthony White; her loving siblings, Lucinda Mae Parker, Thelma Rae Parker, Emma Jean Parker, and Larry Parker; a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends — along with her special friend Joann Powdrill.

Ida Bell White’s life was a testament to faith, resilience, and service. Her legacy lives on through the many lives she touched — in her family, her church, and her community. She will be remembered for her strength, grace, and deep, abiding love for others.

In lieu of flowers, in Ida's honor, the family asks that donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
