It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Janet Jack, visionary Founder and CEO of A-List Branding, esteemed marketing strategist, and devoted mother, grandmother, and community leader.
Born on June 24, 1956, in Oakland, California, Janet was the beloved daughter of Effie Angel Jack and Lionel Jack. She and her siblings were raised in Texas, and she carried her Texas roots with grace and strength throughout her life. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Business Marketing from the University of Texas at Austin, laying the foundation for a remarkable career defined by leadership, style, and innovation.
Janet built an extraordinary professional legacy, serving as a senior executive and Former SVP with over 20 years of retail and wholesale leadership. She held leadership roles with distinguished brands including Neiman Marcus, Marshall Field’s, Dayton Hudson, JCPenney, Limited Brands, and Soma Intimates. She later channeled her expertise into entrepreneurship, founding A-List Branding, where she helped elevate entrepreneurs, founders, and organizations to show up powerfully and authentically.
A proud and Golden Member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, Janet embodied excellence, sisterhood, and service. She was also a dedicated community leader, serving on the Executive Board of the Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Garden, where she led the Marketing Committee and helped grow the Black Heritage Celebration into a signature event impacting thousands.
Beyond her accomplishments, Janet’s greatest joy was her family. She was a devoted mother to her beloved daughter, Amber Peoples, a loving mother-in-law to Jovell Peoples Sr., and an extraordinary grandmother to Jaelle, Jojo, Jacque, Jaxon, and Jolie, who were the center of her world. She poured into them with unconditional love, wisdom, and presence, creating a legacy that will live on through each of them.
She is survived by her siblings, Lionel Jack Sr., Donna Childress, Tammy Nolan, Cheryl Jack, and Erin Jack.
Janet had a deep love for fashion and was known for her impeccable style, always the best dressed wherever she went. She found peace and pride in her home, which she affectionately called her haven, and took joy in her garden and in bringing people together as the ultimate hostess. She loved classic R&B from the 70s, the kind that filled a room with warmth and soul, much like she did.
Those who knew Janet knew her as the life of every gathering, a woman of presence, power, and undeniable grace. She was a boss in every room she walked into, yet equally warm, generous, and full of life. She had a rare gift for making people feel seen, valued, and inspired.
Janet leaves behind a legacy of excellence, elegance, leadership, and love. She was deeply loved and will be profoundly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
