Jeffrey Randall Claiborn was born on November 16, 1956, to Marshall Neal Claiborn and Bobby Jean (Wofford) Claiborn in Jacksonville, Texas.
As a child, he attended Corinth Baptist Church with his family, where he developed his deep love of music. On many Sundays, he would, as a young boy, stand alone at the front of the church and sing his and the church's favorite songs from the hymnal. He was also a member of the award-winning Jacksonville High School choir, where he won awards as part of the choir, along with awards for his solo performances. His singing ability and his personality won him the lead role in the school's musical, Dracula Baby.
Jeffrey loved going skiing on Lake Jacksonville so much so that it earned him the nickname "Ski Daddy". He spent a lot of cherished time with his sisters and extended family of aunts, uncles, and many cousins. Growing up in the piney woods of East Texas and driving his Camaro along the country roads with his friends Bill, Raymond, and Ted were key memories he enjoyed.
After a two-year move to San Francisco, Jeffrey returned to East Texas to meet the love of his life, Andrea, at a restaurant where they both worked. After a very brief engagement, they married on Valentine's Day, 1982. The couple moved to Dallas the following year, where their three children were born and raised. Jeffrey spent the next 30+ years working in metal fabrication as an AutoCAD Operator and Drafter. When he was not working, Jeffrey loved spending time with his children, taking them camping and fishing often. He loved being a member of Promise Keepers and focusing on being the best husband and father he could be.
In 2014, Jeffrey and Andrea's granddaughter, Yoreh, was born. Jeffrey's role and name became "Popi", which tickled him pink. He loved doing all of the silly things with her and making her laugh.
After retiring in 2016, Jeffrey enjoyed having more time listening to music, growing his vinyl record collection, and spending time with his beloved wife and pugs. He loved attending concerts, especially getting in VIP to meet and hear his favorite musician, Todd Rundgren. If you knew Jeff, you knew about Todd! It would be remiss not to mention his love of The Beatles and The Beach Boys as well. Sharing his love and knowledge of music with anyone, he had a very eclectic taste and could steer you toward an artist or genre you might like.
Laughter and mischief were mainstays in his life and his lasting legacy to all who knew and loved him. The twinkle in his eyes will never fade in their memory.
Surrounded by his loving family, after a brief illness, Jeffrey was called home on September 5, 2026.
He was preceded in death by his parents. He leaves a host of loved ones to cherish lasting memories, including his wife of 44 years, Andrea (Wolff) Claiborn; his son, Marshall Claiborn; his daughters, Anita Claiborn and Katharine Claiborn; his sisters, Lissa Claiborn Longoria (Bobby) and Staci Waters Langston (Tony); his granddaughter, Yoreh Claiborn; and many beloved cousins.
