Jerry Lamar Terry was born on November 16, 1971, in St. Louis, Missouri to the union of Harry and Alice Terry. On Thursday, December 22, 2022, God called his servant home to be with Him. Jerry was the fourth of five children.
At an early age, Jerry accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior at Solomons Temple Church. He was a loving child who had a great sense of humor and enjoyed family, football, music, and helping his dad with his lawn care business. Education was important to his parents, so with his love for football, they sent him to Lutheran High School North. While at Lutheran North, he succeeded especially on the football field assisting his team in winning three state championships. Jerry graduated high school in 1991 and went on to Southwest Missouri State. There, he pledged Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Sigma Theta Chapter, in the spring of 1993. He later transferred to Mizzou due to their football program. While at Mizzou, he dominated the football field and went on to graduate with his Bachelor’s degree in 1997. While working as a CTE coordinator for St. Louis Public Schools, he earned his Master’s degree from Lindenwood University in 2008. In 2018, he earned a Project Management Certification from Keller Graduate School.
In 2001, Jerry met the beautiful love of his life, Jamie, and they joined in holy matrimony on July 12, 2003. Together, they loved and nurtured five children.
In July 2010, Jerry and Jamie stepped out on faith and moved their family to Dallas, Texas. Upon moving to Texas, Jerry was blessed with a teaching position at Garland ISD. He was a great teacher that made a huge impact within the community, especially with at-risk youth. Jerry was a God-fearing man that loved serving in ministry alongside his brothers and singing unto the Lord.
His mother and one sister preceded him in death.
He leaves to cherish precious memories: his wife, Jamie Terry; his children - Taiylar, JaTonne, Jada, Tory, and Jayla; his father, Harry Terry, Sr.; and his siblings - Harry Terry, Jr., Shirley Terry, Nathaniel (Chaketa) Terry; and a host of other relatives and friends.
