Jessie Faye (Roberson) Hollins was born on July 31, 1941, to Jesse and Mae Pearl Roberson in Dallas, Texas. Though she was named after her father, those who knew and loved her best affectionately called her “Faye.” It was a name that fit her gentle spirit and the warmth she carried throughout her life.
She graduated from Booker T. Washington High School in 1959 and began her working years at Dallas Linen Service. Driven by creativity and a love for helping others feel their best, she later attended Madame C.J Walker Beauty School, where she discovered a passion for doing hair and nails—something she truly enjoyed and took pride in.
On April 1, 1961, Faye married Oscar Hollins, and together they made their home in Dallas, Texas. From this union, two daughters were born: Letrese and Stephanie. Her girls were the joy of her life.
Faye went on to work for Texas Instruments, serving as a line technician for 35 years until her retirement. Her strong work ethic, dedication, and reliability were evident in everything she did.
She believed in the Lord, Jesus Christ, as her Savior. Under the leadership of Pastor Robert E. Price, she joined New Mount Zion Baptist Church, where she faithfully attended for many years and nurtured her spiritual life.
Faye was known as a wonderful cook—her meals were made with love and brought people together. She enjoyed staying informed and could often be found watching the news. In her later years, she surprised many by becoming an enthusiastic sports fan. She proudly supported the Dallas Cowboys, Dallas Mavericks, and the Texas Rangers, always ready in one of her many team T-shirts, cheering them on from her favorite chair in the living room.
Above all else, Faye loved her family. Her heart was fullest when surrounded by those she loved, and her legacy lives on through them.
Faye was preceded in death by her parents, Jesse and Mae Pearl Roberson; her half-brother, Farntaine Roberson; and her sister, Barbara Smith.
Those left to cherish lasting memories include her two daughters: Letrese Hollins and Stephanie Caldwell (Calvin); her four grandchildren: Tanisha Jackson (William), Terrence Hollins, Roderick Keith Branch, and Calvin Caldwell II; her three great-grandchildren: Nicholas, Nathan, and Natalie Jackson; her three grand-dogs: Cookie, Chase, and Chino; her beloved sister, Linda Roberson Lowe; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.
Faye will be remembered for her quiet strength, loving heart, and the simple but meaningful ways she showed her love. She will be deeply missed and forever cherished.
