Jo Ann Miles

Jo Ann was born on August 23, 1949, in Kansas City, Kansas. She transitioned to eternity on April 26, 2018, in Richardson, Texas at age 68. 

In 1967, Jo Ann graduated from Wyandotte High School where she was affectionately regarded as Josie. She went on to attend Kansas City Kansas Community Junior College. Jo Ann enjoyed a lifelong career in communications. She worked at Southwestern Bell where she was an active union member. She was also employed at AT&T, ADT Security, and the Woodlands Race Track where she enjoyed working as a cook and became known for her amazing chicken salad.  

In addition to her passion for cooking, Jo Ann delighted in watching old movies and listening to anything Marvin Gaye among many other hobbies. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. 

Jo Ann was predeceased by her daughter, Jama Marie Miles; parents, Jim and Cleo Miles; sister, Elizabeth Ann Fernandez; and special friend, Diane Downs Kelly. Those left to cherish precious memories include her son, Tracy Miles and his wife Melba; grandchildren: Tracy Miles II, Travion Miles, Tyrece Miles, and Tyson Miles; siblings: Shirley Gray, Carolyn Barksdale (Donald), Jim Miles, Jr. (Mi-Soon), Jacqueline Shaw (Keith), and Kevin Miles (Trichelle); one uncle, Jerry Miles; special friends: Alpha Hines, Connie Smith, Mikki Coser, Theola Cheatham, Nadine Sublett, Monquie, Mama D, and Shorty; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
