John William Banks, Jr. was born on December 31, 1955, to John Banks, Sr. and Iris Delores Muse in Tyler, Texas. He passed away on March 21, 2021, in Dallas, Texas.
John attended O.W. Holmes and graduated from South Oak Cliff High School in 1974. While at South Oak Cliff High School, he excelled in baseball and achieved many honors, including All-State. He went on to attend Prairie View A&M College and Paul Quinn College. Later in life, he was invited to training camp with the Cincinnati Reds and Kansas City Royals.
John worked in retail for Levine’s department store and later in car detailing. He was a kind, thoughtful soul who always saw the good in people, and he will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John Banks, Sr. and Iris Delores Muse; and sister, Linda Joyce Banks Roan. Those left to cherish fond memories include his sister, Olga Yolanda Banks Phillips; nephews, Mario Roan and Kelvin Phillips; aunt, Eunice Muse Hall; uncle, Waldo Banks (Anice); uncles, Josephus Sadler and Leo Senegal; brother-in-law, Oscar Roan; and a host of cousins and friends.
