John Carter Obituary

John Michael Carter was born on September 18, 1947, in Newport News, Virginia. He transitioned to eternity on February 16, 2022, in Dallas, Texas. 

John graduated from Hamilton Park High School in 1966 and remained a proud alumnus. He went on to attend Henderson County Junior College where he earned an Associate Degree. He later attended Executive Paralegal School (1989). John enjoyed a longtime career in technical support at AT&T. He also worked at Zarif’s Paralegal Service as a Paralegal.  

Among many hobbies, John delighted in politics, biblical studies, jazz music, and sports. He also enjoyed boxing, exercising, and music. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Hamilton Park and later united with Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church in Sherman, Texas.   

John will be fondly remembered for his strong, proud, intelligent, courageous, and considerate nature. His loving spirit will be missed by all who knew and loved him. 

He was preceded in death by his father, Relia Carter; mother, Jennie Sue Hannah Carter; brother, Wayman Carter; and cousin, Jimmie Howard. Those left to cherish precious memories include his nephew, Michael E. Carter; cousins - Travis Howard (Jimmie), Tony Howard Tucker, Jimmie Howard, Jr., Kenneth Howard (Phyllis), Patricia Minor, Samuel Minor, Jr., Alise Minor, and Samuel Minor III; goddaughter, Angela Ogburn; cherished friends, Pastor Gahlen Warren (Jeana) and Jacqueline Rayson; the Hamilton Park Class of 1966; and a host of dear friends.
