John Parker Obituary

John Hayes Parker, lovingly known as a wonderful husband, father, stepfather, “Papaw”, great-grandpa, and friend, passed away, leaving a legacy of love, loyalty, and strength.

John was born on October 9, 1947, in Dayton, Ohio, to George and Jennie Parker. He graduated from Wilbur Wright High School in 1965. While still a junior in high school, John was introduced to the printing trade by his Aunt Marjorie, sparking a lifelong career as a pressman and printer. He continued in that field until his retirement in 2011.

On August 5, 1965, John proudly enlisted in the United States Navy, where he served his country with honor until October 17, 1970. He was honorably discharged due to injury after serving three years, one month, and nine days of active duty.

On June 29, 1998, John married his loving wife, Ninfa G. Parker. To her, he was affectionately called “My Love,” while his grandchildren called him “Papaw,” and others knew him as “Grump,” “Pops,” or “Grandfatha.”

Among many hobbies, John enjoyed golfing, tinkering in his garage, watching westerns, and manicuring his lawn. He most enjoyed spending time with his family.

He will be fondly remembered for his patience (until he got old!); unbreakable bonds of love, especially for his wife and family; courage; and honorable nature. His humble spirit will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

John was preceded in death by his parents, Jennie and George Parker; grandad, Cecil Wells, Sr.; grandma, Edna Wells; aunt, Marjorie Parker; uncle, Cecil Wells, Jr.; uncle, Robert "Bob" Wells; aunt, Serena Howell; uncle, Russell Howell; mother-in-law, Elena Cadena Gonzales; brother, Paul Parker; and son-in-law, Reginald “Reggie” Robinson, Sr..

He is lovingly survived by his wife, Ninfa G. Parker; his father-in-law, Alberto H. Gonzalez; his brother, James “Jim” Parker; his cousin (more like his sister), Carolyn (husband Steve) Kennard; and his children, Robin Arnell, Joe (wife Valerie) Perez, Ruben (wife Cecilia) Perez, Tina Robinson, and Denise Rodriguez. He was a cherished grandfather to Jonathan (wife Jaclyn) Arnell, Christopher (wife Giao) Arnell, Angelicia “Jelly” Gomez, Antonia Almaguer, Joe Perez III, Sierra Perez, Jimmie Perez, Damian Perez, Tatiana Rosario, Matilda Rodriguez, Malia Gonzalez, and Reginald Robinson, Jr. He was a cherished great-grandfather to Lucas Arnell, Rylie Arnell, Wyatt Arnell, Layla Lopez, and Eze-Mateo Rosario Obi. He also leaves his sister and brother-in-law, Noemi "Mimi" and Mario Flores.
