Karen Yvonne (Bates) Brockington was born on March 14 1954, to Addie Lee (Faison) Bates and Curtis Bates in Garland, Texas. She transitioned to eternity on August 21, 2024, in Mesquite, Texas.
Karen graduated from Garland High School in 1972 and enjoyed a fulfilling career at State Farm Insurance. She retired around 2015.
Outside of work, Karen was a talented seamstress who loved to read. She also enjoyed watching her favorite TV show, The Rifleman. Affectionately known as "Tweety/Tweety Bird" characterized by her beautiful Afro and long slender legs reminiscent to the beloved cartoon character. Karen accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior and remained faithful in her Christian journey.
Those left to cherish precious memories include her daughter, Kelly Leslie Legzdins; her mother, Addie Lee Bates; her sisters, Lisa Smith and Diann Darden; her nieces - Gabriel, Victoria, and Candace; her best friend of over 50 years, Grady, El, and her beloved cousin, Eartha Walls - both of whom loved and supported her throughout her life; and a host of other relatives and friends.
