Kimberly Jeanette Cooks was born on June 24, 1978, in Dallas, Texas. She transitioned to eternity with her Lord on August 6, 2021, in Dallas, Texas.
Kimberly attended Skyline High School in Dallas, Texas. After graduating from high school, Kimberly enlisted in the United States Army. During her service, she received the Army Commendation Medal, Good Conduct Medal, and Army Service Ribbon. On October 22, 2000, she was honorably discharged. Kimberly went on to attend Rochester Institute of Technology in Rochester, New York, where she received her bachelor’s degree in 2004. She later matriculated at Texas A&M University in Commerce, Texas, where she earned her MBA degree in 2018. Kimberly enjoyed a longtime career at various companies, including U.T. Southwestern Medical Center, American Heart Association, Social Security Administration, and TD Industries until her transition.
Among many hobbies, Kimberly enjoyed reading biographies, self-help books, and books on the organization of home and office. She also delighted in researching and updating family history, taking classes for personal improvement, and watching movies from the 1930's and ’40s'.
She served as an event volunteer for the town of Addison and a fence inspector for the City of Garland. She also volunteered with the ATX Television Festival in Austin for five years, Meals on Wheels, and the Annual Charity Walk-a-Thon at White Rock Lake.
Kimberly was a faithful member of North Dallas Community Bible Fellowship where she assisted with the Angel Tree, Back to School Supply, Birthday Love Shoeboxes for the homeless shelters and nursing homes, and Holiday Food Baskets. She also served in various ministries and on various committees, including Union Gospel Men's Homeless Shelter Ministry, the Hospitality Committee, Nursing Home Ministry (three locations), and "So(u)led Out" Walking Ministry.
Kimberly will be fondly remembered for her dedication, sincerity, kindness, and devotion. Her loving nature will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Those left to cherish precious memories include her mother, Betty Jean Merchant-Duke, as well as a host of beloved family and friends.
