LeAndrew Collins, Jr.

LeAndrew Collins Jr. was born on July 12, 1959, to LeAndrew Collins Sr. and Charlie Mae Collins in Shreveport, Louisiana. Surrounded by his loving family, he transitioned from this life to eternity with his Lord on February 18, 2026.

He graduated from Greek Oaks High School in 1977 and continued his education at Mountain View College, where he studied Computer Science. He later studied at the Texas Institute, where he focused on Computer Programming. Demonstrating his commitment to professional growth, he earned a Certificate in Unix System Administration from Southern Methodist University in 2005.

LeAndrew built a solid and respected career in Information Technology. He began working at State Farm in 1984 and served faithfully until 1996. He continued his work as a Unix operator until 2000, when he joined Vartec Telecom Technology. From 2008 to 2011, he worked as a data center computer operator at the Federal Reserve Bank. In addition to his IT career, he also drove trucks off and on from 2005 until his retirement in 2015. Through every role, he demonstrated dedication, intelligence, and a strong work ethic.

LeAndrew accepted Christ and his faith remained steadfast. He was a devoted member of St. Mark Baptist Church, where he lifted his voice in praise as a member of the Male Chorus.

Known by many affectionate nicknames such as “Leebo,” “Jab,” “Whoopie Down Wond” (given by his football friends), “Papi” to his grandchildren, and “Pops”, LeAndrew’s personality was unforgettable. He loved watching sports, especially cheering for his favorite team, the Dallas Cowboys. He enjoyed horses, cowboy boots, rodeos, hunting, fishing, trying his luck with lottery numbers, and boxing. In 1987, LeAndrew proudly earned the title of Golden Glove Champion, a testament to his strength and competitive spirit.

He was preceded in death by his parents, LeAndrew Collins Sr. and Charlie Mae Collins; his father-in-law, John Thomas Slack; and Bennie May Estes, the mother of his first wife.

LeAndrew leaves many to cherish lasting memories, including his children, LeAndrew Collins III, Katelyn Collins, and Zachary Collins; his grandchildren, Ayden and Zuri; his sisters, Mary Bryant and Lula Daniel; his brothers, William Collins, Anthony Collins, and Donald Ray Collins; the mothers of his children, Jean and Lynne; his mother-in-law, Zelma Nunn; and a host of nieces and nephews, Creeana, Jordan, Christopher, Wesley, Pascha, Roland Jr., Grant, Garrett, and Guyreid.
