Lewis Irvine Obituary

Lewis Wesley Irvine was born in Abilene, Texas, on January 13, 1943. He passed away on February 23, 2025.

Lewis graduated from Abilene High School in 1961. He enlisted in the United States Air Force and proudly served his country until being medically discharged in 1963. Lewis went on to enjoy a career at various employers, including Lowe's Electric Automotive in Abilene, Texas, Texas Instruments, and Irvine Specialties. Around 2000, he retired from Texas Instruments and launched his own business, Irvine Specialties, a trailer manufacturing business he operated for over 20 years. He later went into partnership and owned Monitor Systems, which built speed monitoring trailers and shipped to such diverse locations as Dubai and South Africa.

On April 13, 1963, Lewis married the love of his life, Sue. The two remained united in matrimony until his transition.

Among his many hobbies, Lewis enjoyed racing. While in high school and beyond, he was a drag racer, remembered for his weekends at the races in Ennis, sporting a grandstand built by Lewis and hauled behind his motorhome. Over the years, he hosted many friends during that drag racing weekend.

Lewis will be fondly remembered for his hard-working, loyal, friendly, and fun nature. His loving spirit will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

He was predeceased by his parents, L.D. and Lois Eunice Perkins Irvine; his parents-in-law, James Vaudie Dees and Beatrice Vondle Burleson Dees; his brother, Larry Irvine; and his aunt, Retta Irvine.

Those who are left to cherish sweet memories include his wife, LaVonda Sue Dees Irvine; his sons, Lennon Irvine of St. Louis and Lance Irvine of Dallas, TX; his grandchildren, Ryan Irvine of St. Louis, MO, Jeremy Irvine of Tyler, TX and Adam Irvine of Cedar Hill, TX; his great-grandson, Child Isaac Irvine; his sister, Linda Irvine Gryder of Abilene, TX; his nephew, Wes Gryder of Katy, TX; his niece, Landra Raymond of Magnolia, TX; his niece, Leslie Ward of Ovalo, TX; his niece, Wendy Irvine Martel of Kileen, TX; and several great-nieces and great-nephews, and cousins.
