Linda Lois Barrett-Neal was born on August 10, 1959 to Leary Nell Frierson Barrett and James Lee Barrett in Dallas, Texas. Surrounded by loving family and friends, she transitioned to eternity with her Lord on January 16, 2022, in Dallas, Texas.
Linda attended Lake Highlands High School, graduating with the Class of 1977. After graduation, she went on to attend Richland College. Linda enjoyed a longtime career as a realtor until her health began to decline.
Affectionately regarded as "Pie", Linda accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at a young age. She remained faithful to God's church throughout her life. She was a longtime member of New Mount Zion Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Dr. Robert E. Price, Sr. and later united with New Light Church under the leadership of Pastor Shaun Rabb.
Among many hobbies, Linda delighted in cooking for family, traveling, shopping, wearing hats, and riding in sports cars. She most enjoyed supporting her beloved daughter, Nicole Barrett, in her pursuit of liberal arts, pageantry, broadcasting, and business ownership. Linda made an impact on all who crossed her path. She was a community activist who advocated for various interests, including senior citizens and voting rights for all people. She also served as Hamilton Park Class of 1977 President and as a neighborhood advocate with the Hamilton Park Legacy Foundation.
Linda will be fondly remembered for her outgoing, humorous, and carefree nature. She will be dearly missed and forever respected by all who knew and loved her.
Linda was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Roosevelt Thomas and Michael Wayne Barrett; and her daughter, Nicole Barrett (August 10, 2021). Those left to cherish precious memories include her brother, James Lee Barrett, Jr. (Evelyn); brother, Larry D. Barrett; sister, Gwenda Barrett Jackson (Eddie); brother, Paul E. Barrett; sisters-in-law, Rogena Barrett and Carolyn Thomas; aunt, Winnie Lee Fields; nieces - Courtney Barrett Pringle (Dre), Kayla Thomas, Myah Barrett, and Brieonna Barrett Comer (Charles); nephew, James David Barrett (Chan); and a host of family and friends.
