Linda Pearson Mathews was born on December 21, 1949, in Dallas, Texas, to Leamon and Rosie Pearson. From an early age, Linda was surrounded by family and developed the loving, caring spirit that would become such a defining part of her life.
Linda was a proud graduate of Hamilton Park High School, home of the Bobcats, where she graduated with the Class of 1968. She continued her education at Texas Woman’s University, where she became a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated. Linda dedicated many years of her professional life to Union Bankers. She took pride in her work and in the relationships she developed throughout the years.
Her faith was an important and enduring part of Linda’s life. She was a longtime member of First Baptist Church of Hamilton Park, where she faithfully served and, most recently, participated in the Greeters Ministry. Linda loved the Lord, and her faith was reflected in the love, kindness, and compassion she showed to others.
Lovingly known as “Aunt Linda,” she enjoyed staying active and spending time with the people she loved. She could often be found walking at NorthPark Mall, participating in daily activities at Willie B. Johnson Recreation Center, or traveling to Houston to visit family. Linda enjoyed the simple pleasures of life and cherished every opportunity to spend time with those who meant the most to her.
Linda was a loving daughter, a devoted sister, a caring auntie, and a tremendously loyal friend. She had a warm and welcoming spirit and a genuine concern for the well-being of others. Her laughter, companionship, kindness, and love created lasting memories for everyone blessed to know her.
Linda was preceded in death by her parents, Leamon and Rosie Pearson; her sister, Wanda Lee Nolen; and her niece and nephew, Kim Johnson and Curtis Johnson.
Those left to cherish lasting memories include her two sisters, Patsy Jean Johnson and Shirley Delois Trotter; her niece, Adriane King; her nephews, Jason King, Ramon Adrain Nolen, and Patrick Nathaniel Nolen (Shalonda); Ramon’s children, Jaden Nolen and Breanna Thompson; Patrick’s children, Brianna Hobbs (George), Chad Nolen, Aniyah Nolen, and Makayla Nolen; her aunts, JoAnn Wilson and Mary Wilson; along with several great-nieces and great-nephews, extended family members, and a host of dear friends.
Linda leaves behind a beautiful legacy of faith, love, friendship, and genuine care for others. Though her earthly journey has come to an end, the love she shared, the memories she created, and the lives she touched will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
She will forever be remembered, deeply cherished, and lovingly missed as “Aunt Linda.”
