Lonia Faye Mitchell Foley was born on November 25, 1940 in Levelland, Texas. She transitioned on December 4, 2020, in Plano, Texas.
Faye, as she was affectionately regarded, attended Carver High School in Levelland, Texas, where she was an outstanding basketball player. Upon graduating from Carver, she went on to enjoy her role as a wife and mother. Throughout her life, she also enjoyed working at various companies. However, her true delight was nurturing her family and ensuring their well-being.
In 1968, Faye married the love of her life, Walter Foley, Jr. To their union, a son was born. The two remained united for 40 years until Walter’s transition in 2009.
Also affectionately regarded as “Faye Baby”, Faye delighted in dancing, fashion, table games, and spades. She had a good time, every time, playing dominos, a game in which she dominated the table. Above all, Faye loved spending time studying God’s word, fellowshipping with fellow saints, and worshiping her Lord and Savior.
From 1972 to 2002, Faye grew deeper in her relationship with God through the Holiness church. In 2002, she continued to grow under the Baptist church’s principles and guidance, and she served on the Usher Board for many years. Aside from being grateful for her own relationship with Christ, she was pleased to lead her son, Kelvin, to Christ.
Faye will be fondly remembered for being a Spirit-filled, passionate worshiper, as well as a mother figure to many who were privileged to cross her path. The life of the party, Faye will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
She was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Louis Mitchell, Sr. and Rebecca Mitchell; and all of her siblings: Olevia Anderson, W. S Mitchell, James Lee Mitchell, Elnora Eillis, Equilla Proutt, Louis Mitchell, Jr., Theria L. Mitchell, Ida Irene Casey, Amy Lee Wallace, and J. W. Mitchell.
Those left to cherish precious memories include her son, Kelvin Foley (Brenda); granddaughters, Jasmine Fletcher and Winter Foley; great-granddaughter, Harper Fletcher; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
