Lueranze "L.J." Kazee, Jr. was born on August 24, 1933, in Hearne, Texas, to the parentage of Lueranze Kazee, Sr. and Lovie Mae Walker Kazee. Surrounded by his family, he transitioned to eternity on December 4, 2018, in Dallas, Texas.
The family moved from Hearne, Texas, to Marlin, Texas, where he attended school in the Marlin Independent School District. They moved to Dallas where he attended Booker T. Washington School. L.J., as he affectionately known, was an A-honor-roll student.
In 1951, he married the love of his life, Katie. To their union, four daughters were born.
L.J. was the minister of the Trinity Park Church of Christ for an extended period of time. He traveled to numerous national church lectureships. From 2006 until his transition, he worked as the assistant minister to Brother Charles T. Greene and as the full-time song director for the Oak Cliff Church of Christ. L.J. loved his Oak Cliff church family where he was allowed to use all of his God-given gifts.
L.J. joins his parents, Lueranze, Sr. and Lovie Kazee, in death. He also joins his siblings, Willie Seay Kazee and James Edward Kazee. Those left to cherish precious memories and continue his legacy include his wife of 67 years, Katie; daughters: Anita Kazee Thomas, Debra Kazee, Jacqueline Jones, and Juliana Kazee; 11 grandchildren: Shaneka, Reginald, Valencia, Dameon, Michelle, Michael, Tondolyn, Sterling, Nikia, Kyla, and LeAndria; 39 great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren; sisters: Mary Johnson, Lovie Moore (Roger), Rosie Jackson, and Ocie Champion (Otis); and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
