Lurlene Dolores Terrell was born on April 1, 1929, to the late A.B. Terrell and Ceola Owens-Terrell in Collin County, Texas. On September 6, 2026, Lurlene transitioned to eternity with her Lord and Savior.
An accomplished graduate of Doty High School, Class of 1946, Lurlene enjoyed working at Collins Radio/Rockwell International/Alcatel in Richardson, Texas, for many years. To help take care of her family, she also did "Day Work" and was able to do that because she worked 2nd shift at Rockwell while still attending and participating in ministries at the church. Her caring spirit led her to also work as a healthcare associate at Crestview Nursing Home. Upon retiring in 1996, Lurlene joined three women who owned a home cleaning business, continuing to model an exemplary work ethic. During her career, she received several acknowledgements for her excellent work.
Lurlene confessed Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior and remained steadfast in her faith. She was a lifelong member of Mt. Pisgah Missionary Baptist Church. In her younger years, she loved listening to the early-morning broadcasts featuring Rev. S.M. Wright of Peoples Missionary Baptist Church. She also sang in the Inspirational Choir and was president of various Mission groups within the Greater Rising Star District Association.
With her love for the Lord, she became a faithful Sunday School teacher, used her gifted voice to sing in the Women of Praise Choir, and spread the love of Christ through birthday and holiday cards. She also enjoyed reading her Bible and going to the church bookstore where her favorite candy would await her.
An avid supporter of her children and community, Lurlene rarely missed any of the Hamilton Park football games. She also attended various mission conferences and meetings - locally, statewide, and across the nation. She was also a hair model for Mrs. Nancy Self, who opened a salon in the Hamilton Park community. With this, Lurlene received trophies for being an outstanding hair model.
Among many hobbies, Lurlene delighted in arts and crafts, watching Pete Delkus on Channel 8 News, and being a very serious Dallas Cowboys fan, win or lose. She also took pleasure in spending time with family, visiting the elderly, playing with her pit bull, Bumpy, and being a handywoman. Her strong, generous, and loving nature will be missed by all those who knew and loved her.
Lurlene was preceded in death by her parents, A.B. and Ceola Terrell; her siblings - Mary Francis Terrell, Owens Terrell Jr., Elmo Terrell Sr., Alexander Terrell, Eddie Daniel Terrell, Bobby Lee Terrell, Betty Jane Terrell-Hickson, and Buckney Wayne Terrell; and her beloved granddaughter, Kerrington Nguyen.
