Lynda Joyce (Turner) Portley Rogers was born on October 23, 1947, in Greenville, Texas. She transitioned to eternity on August 9, 2023, in Plano, Texas.
Lynda attended Hamilton Park High School in Dallas, Texas, and Carver High School in Greenville, Texas. She later earned an Associate Degree in Technology from Bishop College. Lynda worked for several years in technology-related jobs as an educator in adult technology. She taught at ATI Career Training Center for many years and worked as a Customer Service Agent for American Airlines. After many years of dedicated service, she retired in 2019.
Lynda married Raymond Portley in 1964. After a few years, the two divorced and she later married Paul Rogers to whom she remained married until he transitioned. She later embraced a relationship with Tommy Jordan who remained her long-time partner until her transition.
Lynda accepted Christ at a young age. She was baptized at New Hope Baptist Church in Greenville, Texas, at seven years old. She later united with the First Baptist Church of Hamilton Park in Richardson, Texas. She remained steadfast in her faith throughout the years.
Among many hobbies, Lynda enjoyed keeping up with current events, learning historical facts, puzzles, politics, and playing bingo. She was also an avid fan of the Dallas Cowboys.
She will be fondly remembered for her humorous, supportive, and resourceful nature. Her loving spirit will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Lynda was preceded in death by her father, Morris Oliver Turner; mother, Charlie Mae (Daniels) Turner Caldwell; grandparents: Earis Jackson, Daisy Mae Jackson, and Charlie and Mollie Daniels; and several aunts and uncles.
Those left to cherish precious memories include her children: Vicki Trueheart, Anthony Portley, and Ramona Browne (James); grandchildren: Shermia Trueheart, Victoria Trueheart, Ruben Portley, Dale Portley, Deshon Portley, Antwon Portley, Brittany Portley, Brianna Portley, Acacia Browne, and Priscilla Browne; six great-grandchildren: Kyrah Lloyd, Renisha Portley, Anaya Shifflett, Ayden Shifflett, Layla Shifflett, and Denym Taylor; lifelong partner, Tommy Jordan; uncle, Gerald Daniels; and a host of other relatives and friends.
In honor of Lynda's colorful personality, all who will attend Lynda's celebration of life are encouraged to wear any color other than black.
