Margaret Gaynor Obituary

Margaret Sylvia (Fleming) Gaynor was born on February 9, 1956, to the late Harold Garland Fleming, Jr. and Margaret Erma (Walker) Fleming in Cheyenne, Wyoming. Margaret, better known as “Sylvia”, graduated from Rancocas Valley Regional High School in 1974 in Mt. Holly, New Jersey. She later studied at Big Ben Community College.

Margaret spent her career traveling around the world to places such as Germany, the U.K., and Mississippi while working for the Army Air Force Exchange Service (AAFES). She left a lasting impression and made lifelong friends at each duty station to which she was assigned. She retired at her last assignment on Travis AFB (Suisun City, California) after dedicating 32 years to the company.

Margaret accepted Christ at an early age and continued her connection with the church as she moved around the world. Her church home in the Suisun City area was Greater Faith Baptist Church where she served as a Deaconess.

On Saturday, January 21, 2023, Margaret departed this life on the property of the place she loved best...the Bingo Hall. Those around the world who knew her, understand! She leaves to remember her life: one daughter, Dwan Samson (Rod) of Colorado Springs, Colorado; three brothers - Barry Fleming of Garland, Texas, Lyle Fleming (Isete) of Burlington, New Jersey, and Keith Fleming of Riverton, New Jersey; four sisters - Donna Johnson (Nesbit) of Garland, Texas, Kim Fleming of San Antonio, Texas, Sherryl Lynne Scott of Heath, Texas, and Vivien Michelle Fleming of Garland, Texas; and a granddaughter, Idalias Palmer (David), a grandson, Jalen Samson, and a great-granddaughter, Syris Palmer - all of Colorado Springs, Colorado. Her two brothers, Harold Fleming and Darryl Fleming, Sr. (Wanda), one sister, Gloria Patricia Cole (Larry), and her closest companion, Blu, preceded her in death. Also to remember her life are a host of relatives and friends.

When you remember the lives of others, you remember their work accomplishments, writings, and the things they did. For Margaret, there was so much more! Her family and friends will tell you she is remembered for her personality and how she made you feel in the workplace. She helped so many on the job and off the job. Margaret has been described as the light and the strength. She was generous, loving, caring, funny, silly, always dancing with a love for  music, courageous, bold, trendsetting, mischievous, quirky, and a hot mess! She was the laughter that filled a room, the backseat wet willy queen as she traveled, the awkward moment maker and yet, the solution to "breaking the ice". Most of all, she was a mother, a sister to many, and a friend to all. She will truly be missed.

"To live in the hearts of those we love is never to die." - Hazel Gaynor
