Marion Ellis Obituary

Marion Virginia Tooke Ellis was born on June 10, 1932, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Surrounded by her children, she transitioned to eternity with her Lord on February 8, 2018, in Frisco, Texas, at age 85.

Marion graduated from North Division High School. She went on to enjoy a lifelong career at JCPenney where her roles included Key Punch Supervisor.
Marion married the love of her life, Walter Ellis. To their union, they loved and nurtured one son and seven daughters. The two remained united in holy matrimony until Walter's transition in 1983.

Affectionately regarded as "Mrs. Daisy", Marion was a mighty prayer warrior. She was a pillar member of New Hope Baptist Church in Milwaukee where she served in multiple capacities in various ministries, including Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, Prison Ministry, Food Ministry, and Women's Day. She delightfully shared the Gospel at every opportunity. Marion was also a member of Order of the Eastern Star in which she notably served as Grand Worthy Matron.

Marion will be fondly remembered for her saying, "Be the head and not the tail". A true beacon in her community, she will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Marion was predeceased by her parents, Jedediah Tooke, Sr. and Faye Palmer Tooke; brother, Donnel Tookes; sister, Lois Tooke; sister, Norma Jean Jones; brother, Alvin Tooke; husband, Walter Ellis, Sr.; grandson, Ronald Bridgewaters, Jr.; and great-grandson, Zion Ellis. Those left to cherish precious memories include her children: Fay Ellis Berry (Jerry), Betty Wakutondo (Sam), Walter Ellis, Jr. (Eustacia), Katherine Ellis Crowder (Michael), Sandra Ellis Wesley (Jeffrey), Patricia Davis (Curtis), Donna Pruitt (Abraham), and Jacqueline Ellis (Patrick); 20 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; brother, Jedediah Tooke, Jr.; and a host of other relatives and friends.
