Mary Hamilton Obituary

Mary Maude (Jackson) Hamilton was born on November 13, 1932, the oldest of five children born to Charles and Sarah (Wright) Jackson in Memphis, Tennessee. Mary departed this life on August 16, 2021, in Plano, Texas.

The Jackson family moved to Chicago, Illinois, in 1942, when Mary was nine years old. She attended DuSable High School in Chicago, Illinois. She met the love of her life, Duke Hamilton, Sr. in 1948. A year later, they united in holy matrimony, and to their union, four children were born. The Hamilton family later relocated to Racine, Wisconsin, for a more family-oriented environment to raise their children. Mary worked as a seamstress, a community center librarian, and a housewife for many years.

In 1980, Mary relocated to Plano, Texas, to live near her son, Duke Hamilton, Jr. She was employed by the City of Plano Library System for 13 years. She worked for Harrington Library from 1980 to 1987 as a Library Technician and Schimelpfenig Library from 1987 to 1993 where she was also a Storytime Reader because of her love for children.

She was predeceased by her parents, Charles and Sarah (Wright) Jackson; a sister; and two brothers. Those left to cherish precious memories include her children - Donna Marie Hamilton, Duke Hamilton, Jr. (Geneva), Lydia Ann Dunn (Bruce), and Michael Len Hamilton; grandchildren - Michael, Ryan, Ashley, Shawna, Aadrian, and Joshua; great-grandchildren - Flower, Michael, Jr. (Dre), Christian, Jr., Ava, Kharma, Kali, Jayden, Isaiah, and Taylor; and a host of other relatives and friends.
