McKinley Joseph Grayson, affectionately known as Mack, a native of Mobile, Alabama, born April 17, 1957, peacefully exchanged this life for eternal joy on Sunday, January 25, 2026, at Faith Presbyterian Hospice in Dallas, Texas.
Mack was known as a devoted family man and a true jack of all trades. He was well known for his dance moves, his infectious spirit, and his ability to light up any room, always the life of the party. Above all else, Mack’s greatest love was his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Mary Elizabeth Petite Grayson and Ernest Grayson.
Mack was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather whose life was rooted in loyalty, love, and unwavering commitment to those he cherished. He shared a lifelong bond with his beloved wife, Phyllis Grayson, and together they built a home grounded in care, laughter, and devotion.
He was a proud father to Jeremy Hunter, Phylica (James) Johnson, Latisha Wilks, and Latasha Wilks. Mack took great joy in being a grandfather to Gabriella, Kieara, Omarion, and Daynaisha, all of whom held a special place in his heart.
Mack is also survived by his four devoted siblings, Brenda Jackson-Napier, Marian (James) Lee, Dorinda Phillips, and Ernest Grayson; his honorary brother, Cliff (Janet) Walker; a host of loving nieces, Geton Crittenden, Carmen (Darryl) Morris, Patrice Lee, Inumidun (Ausar) Obikoya, Latonya Nicholson, Andrea (Clifford) Stone, Angel Jackson, Jasmaine Grayson, Nakia (Tyrell) Crittenden, Portia Boyd, Chloe Lee, Brooke Steward, Eryn Lee; a host of loving nephews, Terrell Grayson, James (Christina) Lee, Jr., Dallas Johnson, Isaiah Napier, Ellis Smith, Ayodeji Obikoya, Dalarian Miles, James Lee III, and Jordan Lee; and a host of cherished cousins, extended family members, and dear friends who will forever honor his memory.
Mack's home was always filled with love, including the companionship of the family dogs, Peanut and Cookie, with Cookie preceding him in death. He will be remembered for his strength, his presence, and the quiet ways he showed love by showing up, by providing, and by standing firmly for his family. His legacy will continue through the lives he touched and the love he leaves behind. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
