Michael James Bundschuh was born on August 26, 1944, in Fremont, Ohio. Surrounded by his loving family, he passed away on January 11, 2022, in Garland, Texas.
Michael graduated from St. Joseph’s High School in 1962. He went on to attend Bowling Green State University and graduated in 1968. He enjoyed a longtime career at Whirlpool Corporation in Clyde, Ohio, and later at E.W. Johnson in Lewisville, Texas, until his retirement in 2010.
Affectionately regarded as “Mike”, “Grandpa B”, “Dad”, “Pops”, and “Pappy Joe”, Michael met the love of his life, Kathleen Regina Gonya, and the two united in holy matrimony on June 14, 1969. The two remained united until his transition.
A member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church, Michael enjoyed many hobbies - reading, martial arts, watching his grandchildren play sports, and shooting. One of his greatest achievements was winning the State Ranked Rifle Championship in Ohio. He was also a lifetime blood donor, and he delighted in collecting stamps and coins. Michael will be fondly remembered for his faithful, supportive, funny, and strong-willed nature. His loving spirit will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Michael was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Gladys Bundschuh; brother, Robert Bundschuh; and parents-in-law, Donald and Regina Gonya. Those left to cherish memories include his loving wife of 52 years, Kathleen Bundschuh; children - Dana Bundschuh-Stone (Camden), Aaron Bundschuh (Heather), and Kara Bundschuh (Jeff Freeman); grandchildren - Christian Stone, Sierra Stone, Aidan Bundschuh, Lauren Bundschuh, Gabby Dodds, and Lexi Freeman; and a host of other relatives and friends.
