Minister Debra Turner Obituary

Minister Debra Ann (Johnson) Turner was born on February 24, 1954, in New Orleans, Louisiana. She transitioned to eternity with her Lord on September 3, 2021, in Plano, Texas.

Affectionately regarded as “Dee”, Debra attended Thomas Jefferson High School and Sophia B. Wright Charter School in New Orleans, Louisiana. She enjoyed a career at Sav-A-Center, Burger King, and in Home Health Care. More than anything, she enjoyed nurturing her husband, children, and grandchildren as a homemaker.

On February 26, 2000, Debra married the love of her life, Earnest C. Turner. The two remained in holy matrimony until his transition.

Debra was baptized at an early age at Stronger Hope Baptist Church in New Orleans, Louisiana. She was a member and minister of Macedonia Baptist Church in Garland, Texas, under the leadership of Pastor B.J. Myles, Sr. She sang on the Praise Team and established the Gospel of Jesus Christ Ministries with her late husband, Rev. Earnest C. Turner.

Among many hobbies, Debra enjoyed cooking, singing, dancing, reading her bible, and teaching the word of God. Debra will be fondly remembered for her spiritual, caring, graceful, and humble nature. Her loving spirit will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Debra was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Earnest C. Turner; grandson, Bryan Granger; mother, Ruth Johnson-Petty; sister, Gloria Williams; brothers, Charles and Larry Johnson; and two brothers-in-law, David Williams and Louis Scott, Sr. Those left to cherish precious memories include her children - Rodney Harris (Kawada), Michelle Williams (Tracy), Laticia Harris, and Eddie Harris; siblings - Betty Johnson, Lynette Johnson, Claudine Johnson, Tabatha Johnson, James Johnson, Wayne Johnson, Terry Johnson, Darnell Johnson, Darryl Johnson, Dwen Scott, Ruth Mack, and Claudette Picquet; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, other relatives, and friends.
