Nancy Anderson Obituary

Nancy Anderson was born Nancy Carol Carson on June 3, 1949. She was one of five children born to Willie and Amy Carson of South Dallas. With the help of her grandparents, the late Abe Madison Burton, Jr., and his wife, Lena Burton, Nancy raised her four brothers - Willie Wayne Carson, Eric Carson, Dwight Carson, and David Paul Carson - after the unexpected death of their young mother, Amy.

Nancy was a lively and strong-willed young woman. In December 1966, she married Chester Vaughn Shannon. The young couple’s union produced a daughter, Ches Lynn Shannon. Within a few weeks of their marriage, Chester died. Two years later, Nancy met MacAuther Walker, Sr. of Grapeland, Texas. MacAuther served in the United States Army. They lived in Mannheim, Germany, for several years and had a son, MacAuther Walker, Jr. In her later years, she married Charles "Shakey" Anderson, who preceded her in death.

Nancy was a graduate of Lincoln High School and El Centro College in Dallas. After years of running a private daycare center, Nancy worked for Meals on Wheels VNA of Texas, delivering food to the shut-in and elderly.

Nancy was a God-fearing woman who enjoyed the simple pleasures that life offered. She loved fishing on the banks of a river, playing the piano and organ, and reading the Word of God.

She was a gentle soul who desired to live a peaceful existence, spreading joy and providing comfort to those in need.

Nancy is survived by daughter, Ches Lynn McKenzie Pickering; son, MacAuther Walker, Jr.; son-in-law, Paul G. Pickering; future daughter-in-law, Vaniecy Nwigwe; brothers, Willie Wayne Carson, Eric Carson, and David Paul Carson; sisters-in-law, Linda Kay Carson and Brenda Carson; nephews, Derek Carson and Damon Carson; first cousin, Rosalyn Burton Allison; dear friend, Mae Bowman; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Do not remember the sins of my youth

    and my rebellious ways;

according to your love remember me,

    for you, Lord, are good.

                                        Psalms 25:7

Mama, we will always love and remember you.
