Nancy Jacobs Obituary

Nancy Ann Jacobs, 71, of Denison, Texas, passed away peacefully on August 29 with her husband and daughter by her side.

Born on July 14, 1954, in Pawhuska, Oklahoma, Nancy was the daughter of Boyd and Ann Whitworth. As a young girl, she moved with her family to Denison, where she grew up and later pursued her education. She attended Texas Tech University before graduating from Southeastern Oklahoma State University with a degree in Education.

On June 1, 1974, Nancy married the love of her life, James Denton Jacobs. Together they shared 51 years of marriage, filled with deep devotion, laughter, and adventure. They welcomed their daughter, Katherine Rene Jacobs Archambault, on September 14, 1977, and later celebrated the arrival of their only grandchild, Zoe Grace Archambault, on February 16, 2006, who became the joy of Nancy’s heart.

Nancy devoted more than 40 years of her life to education, most of them at her beloved St. John’s Episcopal School. Beginning in 1984 as a first-grade teacher, she touched countless young lives with patience, warmth, and wisdom. In 1994, she transitioned to the role of Director of Admissions, where her welcoming spirit and steadfast dedication helped shape the school community for decades. She retired in 2019, leaving behind a legacy of love, kindness, and service.

Her faith was the guiding light of her life. A devoted member of St. John’s Episcopal Church, Nancy faithfully served on the Altar Guild and dedicated herself to ministry that extended far beyond the church walls. She gave generously of her time and energy to support the Austin Street Shelter and, in her retirement years, devoted herself to volunteering at the North Texas Food Bank.

Nancy will be remembered for her kindness, quick wit, and unwavering loyalty as a wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She loved traveling the world with her husband, always eager to embrace new experiences and create cherished memories. Above all, she gave of herself selflessly to everyone around her, leaving an indelible mark on every life she touched.

She is survived by her husband, James Denton Jacobs; daughter and son-in-law, Rene and Randy Archambault; granddaughter, Zoe Archambault; brother, Steve (Brenda) Whitworth; brother-in-law, Ben (Cindy) Jacobs; and nephews, Jason and Adam Whitworth and Taylor Jacobs.

Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, Boyd and Ann Whitworth, and her father and mother-in-law, Bill and Laura Jacobs.

Nancy’s memory will live on in the love of her family, the laughter she inspired, and the countless lives she uplifted.
