Nicole Sherese Shields, lovingly known as Nikki, age 48, of Richardson, Texas, passed away peacefully on April 29, 2025. Born on March 31, 1977, in Kankakee, Illinois, Nicole was the beloved daughter of Valerie Shields Taylor and George Shields.
Nicole graduated from Hillcrest High School in Illinois and went on to attend South Suburban College, where she earned her CNA certification. She worked in the healthcare field for various companies before devoting herself full-time to her most cherished role—being a stay-at-home mom and raising her children.
Nicole found joy in the simple pleasures of life—spending time with her family and friends, collecting Prince memorabilia, diving into the world of Animal Crossing, and curating a large DVD collection. Known for her vibrant personality, Nicole was always talkative, full of energy, and constantly on the move. Her presence filled any room, and her spirit will be deeply missed.
She is survived by her daughter, Roshawna Wardell, and sons, Donte Shields and Terrance Shields—all of Richardson, Texas; her mother, Valerie Taylor; her sister, LaBotta Taylor; her aunts, Shirley Taylor and Deborah Thomas; her uncles, Kenneth (Lisa) Taylor and John (Yolanda) Taylor—all of Texas; and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends who will continue to honor her memory.
Nicole was preceded in death by her beloved son, MacArthur Taylor; her father, George Shields; her maternal grandparents, James and Geneva Taylor; her maternal great-grandparents, Isaiah and Maude Thomas; her aunt, Audrey Wade; her cousins, Ronald and Shelia Wade; and her uncles, James “Jimmy” Taylor, Jr. and Tommy T. Thomas.
Now I lay me down to sleep.
I pray the Lord my soul to keep.
If I should die before I wake,
I pray the Lord my soul to take.
If I live for other days,
I pray the Lord to guide my ways.
Amen.
