Norma Lee (Gatlin) Lacy, lovingly known as “Tommie,” was born on October 31, 1938. She transitioned to eternity with her Lord on May 16, 2026.
Norma was baptized at Friendship Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend W. A. Suggs. Her faith remained an important foundation throughout her life and guided the way she served others with kindness and generosity. She faithfully served for many years as a loyal and dedicated worker in the church’s community clothes closet and food pantry, always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need.
Affectionately called “Tommie” because of her tomboy nature, Norma found joy in sports. She delighted in playing baseball for the community baseball team. She also played the trombone during her school years.
Norma graduated from Manassas High School, Class of 1956. She went on to enjoy a career in healthcare, caring for others as a CNA. Through her work, she was able to touch many lives.
One cherished family memory tells of how, as a young teen, she constantly tried to avoid washing dishes, so much so that Madear, her beloved mother, eventually created a chore list and posted it on the wall to keep everyone accountable. That playful spirit remained part of who she was throughout her life.
Norma was preceded in death by her parents, Noble Gatlin, Sr., and Freddie Gatlin; her sisters, Gloria Adams, Barbara Petty, Rita Hall, Gail Brandon, and Tallulah Mosley; her grandchildren, Kevin Deone Woods and Tamica Lashuda Woods.
Those left to cherish precious memories include her children, Otis B. Woods (Diana T. Woods), Constance D. Woods, and Damion A. Lacy; her grandchildren, Tony Dewayne Woods, Raymond Earl Roberts, Jr., and Constance Marie Woods; her great-grandchildren, Dareon Lamont Woods, Raylen Deshun Woods, Madison Aliyah Woods, and Mayjore Anthony Woods; sisters, Sylvia Martin and Joyce Honeysucker; her brothers, Noble Gatlin, Jr., and Augustus Gatlin; her goddaughter, Stephanie McGill; her god-granddaughter, Zahria McGill; along with a host of family and friends.
