Norman Jackson, Jr. was born on November 23, 1929, to Norman Jackson, Sr., and Bernice Haynes Jackson in Gilmer, Texas. He transitioned to eternity with his Lord on September 21, 2021, in Dallas, Texas.
Norman graduated from Valley View High School. He later enlisted in the United States Army and proudly served his country until being honorably discharged in 1953. He enjoyed a longtime career at Borden Corporation where he worked for 45 years until his retirement.
Norman met the love of his life, Velma Prince, and the two united in holy matrimony on December 29, 1951. The two remained united until her transition.
A servant by nature, Norman was a long-time member of New Mount Zion Baptist Church where he served under the leadership of Dr. R.E. Price, Sr. and later under the leadership of Dr. Tommy L. Brown. Norman served faithfully as a Deacon and sang in the Mass Choir. He also sang in the Male Chorus.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Velma Prince; daughter, Helen Blackmon; parents, Norman and Bernice Jackson; sister, Curley Mae Harris; and brother, Lester Jackson.
Those left to cherish precious memories include his son, William Jackson, Sr.; grandchildren – Jahmear Jackson (Marqueta), Kharee Jackson, Jordan Jackson, William Jackson, Jr., and Tasha Lacy (Fredrick); great-grandchildren – Miyah Lacy, Mikaila Lacy, Miraiah Lacy, and A’laeya Jackson; special friend, Mary Slider; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
