Ola Mae (McCraney) Givens was born on September 12, 1945, to the parentage of John and Dorothy McCraney in Winnsboro, Louisiana. On June 9, 2024, she transitioned to eternity with her Lord.
Ola grew up in Garland, Texas, with her six siblings. She went on to work at Blue Cross Blue Shield and Garland Independent School District, but she most enjoyed being a homemaker which allowed her to nurture her family.
Ola was blessed with her first son, Lamarcus McCraney. In the late 60's, she met her husband George Givens. To their union, two sons and two daughters were born. George and Ola remained united until her transition.
At a very early age, Ola developed a great level of faith. She became known as Evangelist Ola Givens. Before the decline of her health, she was an active member of the Greater El Bethel Church of God in Christ. She took pride in coordinating weddings, family events, and church programs. Most notably, she was the founder of Oasis of Love Ministries.
A devout Christian who loved God and his people, Ola will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Dorothy and John McCraney; son, Lamarcus McCraney; sisters, Mable Campbell and Suzanna McCraney; and brothers - Ray McCraney, Alonzo McCraney, and Billy Joe McCraney.
Those left to cherish precious memories include her husband, George Givens; daughters, Shannon Wright (Cassius) and Kemetra Givens; her sons, Malcolm Givens (Sedra) and Micheal Givens; her grandchildren - Jordan Wright, Jalann Wright, Malcolm Givens, Terence Hill, Terryll Hill, Trenton Hill, and Trinity Hill; her great-grandchildren, Messiah Hill and Jordan Andre' Wright; her sisters - Dorothy Smith, Glenda Myles, and Brenda Onyema (Fred); and host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
